New EU rules risk flood of new plastic packaging

DS Smith Zărnești Paper Mill and Malaxa Technological High School: Partners in Shaping Future Generations of Mechanics
• Starting with the 2024–2025 school year, the company supports a new Local Development Curriculum (LDC) titled Monitoring and Maintenance of Machines and Equipment in the Paper Industry. • The program targets 11th-grade students in the Mechanics specialization and includes 64 hours of training. • Through this initiative, DS Smith helps young graduates integrate more easily into the labour market or continue their studies in specialized universities.

The EU Taxonomy Regulation sets out a classification system that translates the European Union’s environmental objectives into criteria for determining when an activity can be considered environmentally sustainable for investment purposes. Within the current Taxonomy, we’ve voluntarily identified that some of our activities are environmentally sustainable taxonomy-aligned activities. These are predominantly our recycling operations.
