Healthy eating leads to healthy growth and new packaging for Mixitka

Mixitka is a relatively young brand of fruit and cereal bars based in the Czech Republic. The past few years have seen impressive annual growth in double figures and they needed new packaging that could speed up the fulfilment process while still reflecting the brands promise.

Challenge

Redesign the packaging for Mixitka as an Shelf Ready Packaging (SRP) so that stores can get the goods on the shelf quickly and in an appealing way and also so that the manual packing process is done as efficiently as possible. All without losing the natural character of the brand.

Our Approach

DS Smith designers started with a design that was strong enough to allow packs to be stacked high without damaging the lid. They used a single die-cut for the lid and bottom of the SRP to control costs and ensure assembly was easy. The lid itself was developed with perforations so that the SRP could be opened and placed on shelf at the demanding speed required by operators. Finally, simple and clear graphics were used to underline the brand promise and reinforce the brand awareness
