DS Smith develops modular display portfolio for Milka

In order to promote the great variety of flavours of Milka chocolate bars in an eye-catching way at the point of sale, Mondelēz International relies on the versatility of a modular display solution.

The flexible modular system with a load capacity of up to 108 kg was developed together with DS Smith. Thanks to a wide variety of equipment options and interchangeable panels, the display can be individually adapted to any sales campaign without long lead times. An equally appealing and clear presentation of goods helps shoppers to find their favourite variety. Whether in production and logistics or on the sales floor - the variable display is sustainable and efficient. The smart display solution received a bronze POPAI Award from the jury of this year's POPAI D-A-CH Awards.

Displays still play an important role in sales promotion. But the more extensive the product range, the more complex the processes become. In order to reduce the increasing complexity, Mondelēz International was looking for a more efficient and at the same time more flexible solution for the chocolate variety of Milka bars.

The modular system was realised together with the display and packaging specialists from DS Smith. With the stacked shelving units of the new display solution, a wide variety of placement options can be realised. The secondary placements receive their individual design via the communication surfaces on the sides. The panels, which are individually designed and printed in high quality for each sales promotion, are not part of the body and are therefore easy to replace. For the snacking manufacturer Mondelēz International, this opens up more flexibility and efficiency in daily use through demand-oriented production of the display components.

The modular display also offers added value in POS handling. Since the secondary placement is equipped with retail-ready shelf packaging, it can be easily and quickly refilled in the retail sector. Optimum availability and visibility of the goods is also guaranteed by SalesFront®. The automatic product feed system from DS Smith gently moves the chocolate bars forward within the trays after each removal and thus into the field of vision of the shoppers.

The high efficiency of the modular solution is convincing all along the line. At the end of its service life, the mono-material solution made of 100 % corrugated cardboard can simply be put into the recycling cycle and thus becomes a valuable raw material for new, fibre-based products. In line with DS Smith's Sustainability Strategy "Now and Next".
