Cutting carbon and reducing energy consumption
Climate change is one of the biggest global issues of this century.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, DS Smith is committed to tackling climate change and reducing our emissions. We are delighted to announce that we have reached the important global sustainability milestone of ensuring that 100 per cent of relevant sites are ISO 50001 certified, as part of our means to achieving a broader pledge to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% per tonne of production by 2030.
To reduce carbon, we invest in more energy efficient technologies and switch to cleaner fuels. As part of the ISO50001 certification process, we conduct an energy review. This review looks at ways that we can reduce energy consumption right across the business, including improvements to our machinery, installation of LED lights and other renewable energy solutions.
This exercise helps our sites to identify key projects and establish action plans to reduce energy consumption, saving resources and delivering better value for the business.
