DS Smith’s Recycling Division Announces New Regional Managing Director
FTSE100 DS Smith, the leading sustainable packaging company and Europe’s largest recycler of paper and cardboard, has today announced the appointment of Mike Harrison as Managing Director of Recycling in Southern Europe. Reporting to the Head of Recycling at DS Smith, Rogier Gerritsen, he will be responsible for Recycling Operations across Italy, Iberia and France.
With over 20 years’ experience in the sector, Mike re-joins DS Smith from Suez Trading Europe, where he was Recovered Paper Market Director. Prior to this Mike spent over five successful years at DS Smith, holding senior recycling roles in both Europe and North America. Based in DS Smith’s offices in Paris, Mike will bring his significant experience to the role and is responsible for managing a portfolio of around two million tonnes of recycled paper and cardboard for DS Smith and it’s 3rd party mill network.
Recycling is high on both consumer and commercial agendas at the moment, and I know I am joining a company that is well placed to take advantage of the opportunities created by the increased demands we are seeing for paper-based packaging.
Mike’s experience will be valuable as we manage new challenges in our industry. As part of our European management team he will play a key role in delivering our strategy to collect quality paper and cardboard from both commercial and domestic streams.
