DS Smith Donates $50,000 to Aidnet of Greene County to Help Rebuild Homes After Hurricane Helene
A heartfelt commitment to restoring hope and homes in the wake of disaster
In the spirit of compassion and community, DS Smith proudly donated $50,000 to Aidnet of Greene County to help restore homes devastated by Hurricane Helene in September 2024.
The check presentation took place on December 18th at DS Smith's Greeneville Packaging Plant, where representatives from both DS Smith and Aidnet gathered to mark this meaningful contribution.
Aidnet of Greene County, a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has been a beacon of hope for disaster survivors in the region for decades, including during the 2001 floods and 2011 tornadoes. Their tireless volunteers are now focused on aiding those affected by the catastrophic flooding caused by Hurricane Helene, coordinating resources and donations to rebuild homes and restore stability in the community.
"It's huge for DS Smith to make this donation," said Aidnet board member Brandi Glasscock. "We simply could not do the work we do without generous donations from companies like DS Smith. We are a 100% volunteer organization and donations are how we do the work we do."
DS Smith's commitment to the Greeneville community runs deep. DS Smith supports the locations where its employees live and work as part of the company's Now and Next sustainability program. The devastation from Hurricane Helene struck close to home, impacting many of the company's Greeneville employees. In response, DS Smith employees have joined hands with their neighbors, organizing food, clothing, and supply drives to provide immediate relief.
This $50,000 donation is the latest in DS Smith's ongoing efforts to uplift the Greene County community, demonstrating their steadfast dedication to rebuilding lives and strengthening the bonds that hold their community together.
